Dona Hedgecock

Education has been in my blood ever since I played school with my sister in the basement of our childhood home. (I was always the teacher, of course!) I formally entered the field of education as a teacher in 1989 upon graduating from UNC-G and spent the next eight years teaching in both public and private schools. I came to Caldwell in 2001 as a fifth grade teacher and have been joyfully working here ever since. While I have always been drawn to teaching, I have never experienced an educational setting like Caldwell Academy. I believe Classical, Christian education is the “road less traveled” that helps guide students in seeking truth, beauty, and goodness—and ultimately a life of virtue. I have seen it first hand in my own four children who have each attended Caldwell since Kindergarten. During my tenure at Caldwell, I have served as a 3rd and 5th grade Grammar School Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and now Principal in the Dialectic School. It is my honor to be able to assist parents in educating their children, and it is a privilege to do so in a place like Caldwell Academy.
