Charwyne Baker

Although I am originally from High Point, I just recently moved back to the Triad area with my family in the summer of 2010. We felt the Lord calling us back to this area to be close to my widowed mother. I grew up at Westover Church and my husband, Scott, and I were married there in 1992. We began attending Westover again once we returned to the area. We have two children, Elizabeth, born in 1998 and Andrew, born in 2002. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in International Studies and Spanish and I received my Master’s degree from Indiana University in Language Education. During my sophomore year of college I participated in the UNC study abroad program in which I lived with a Spanish family and took classes at the University of Seville, Spain and this is where I truly learned the language. I taught high school Spanish for six years before deciding to stay at home for 11 years with my children. I am now in my third year of teaching since coming back to the classroom. I have taught both high school and elementary school Spanish and am excited to be at Caldwell Academy teaching Spanish II and Spanish IV in the Rhetoric School. Not only do I love teaching the Spanish language and culture, but I love to prepare students to use Spanish in everyday situations both here in the United States and abroad to communicate the love of Christ with the Hispanic world.
